AI Hackathon: Hands-on prototype development

Introduction

In this two-day hackathon, you will work in a team on a realistic AI project: from idea to functioning prototype. Under the guidance of experienced AI experts, you will translate a use case into a technical solution, including architecture, working components and a convincing pitch.

You go through the entire development process: brainstorming, role assignment, building, testing and presenting. Whether you work with language models, image recognition, recommendation systems or chatbots — the focus is on building something that really works, with real data and direct feedback.

The hackathon promotes collaboration between disciplines (data, prompt engineering, back-end, front-end) and offers space to experiment, learn and accelerate within a short, intensive setting.

Learning objectives

  • Converting an AI use case into a workable solution and matching architecture

  • Distribute roles and collaborate effectively on an AI solution (data, prompt, back-end, front-end)

  • Build with real data and APIs, integrating LLMs, ML models or AI tools

  • Develop and test a functioning prototype in a short time

  • Present your solution convincingly to a jury or internal stakeholders

Approach and working methods

The hackathon starts with a short joint kick-off and guidance in the development of use cases. Then you work in teams on your own AI solution with support from AI coaches and technical experts. At the end of day two you pitch your working prototype to a jury or stakeholders, including a live demo.

Support is available in the areas of:

  • Prompt engineering

  • Python, front-end and back-end development

  • AI model integration and data pipelines

  • Deployment and presentation

We can also organize the hackathon around a specific theme (e.g. customer service, sustainability, policy, internal processes) or an existing dataset from your organization.

For whom

This hackathon is for AI teams, developers, data scientists, engineers and product owners who want to deepen their knowledge by building a concrete solution together. A basic knowledge of AI and technical tools is required — curiosity, collaboration and creativity are essential.
